June 26, 2014: It was an 80 mile drive to the Ancient Redwoods RV Resort in Redcrest, California from Westport. The route took us 30 miles on Highway One to 101, then to the Avenue of the Giants. We were looking forward to a relaxing drive through the giant redwoods. Our first stop was at the Chimney Tree Grill, named for the giant hollow tree nearby. Since it was lunchtime, we decided to have that anniversary meal we missed earlier in the week. They had amazing hamburgers and gluten free buns.....decision made (despite the fact I usually eat vegetarian)! We were amazed by the magnificence of the redwood trees. After three previous one night stops we decided to stay at the RV park for two nights. We highly recommend this park.
