Selma's Launch

July 20, 2014:  Today we launched Cas' sailboat, Selma, into Gig Harbor.  We were excited to see two bald eagles fly overhead and perch in the trees along the shore.

Gig Harbor Adventures

July 12-15, 2014:  We were so blessed to have Dennis and Shirley, my brother and sister-in-law, visit us during our stay in Gig Harbor.  We enjoyed our time together with dinner at a local favorite restaurant, Tides Tavern, lunch at Gourmet Burgers, and a tour of the area, including Sunrise Beach. On Monday, we took the ferry from Point Defiance to Vashon Island.  We saw a bald eagle as the ferry pulled away from the dock.  It flew by and landed on a nearby flagpole.  We also saw hundreds of jellyfish during the ferry ride.  After a lunch of gluten free fish and chips at The Hardware Store Restaurant, we toured the island, stopping at the lighthouse for a walk on the beach.  Of course, there are never too many views of Mt. Rainier.

Gig Harbor Arrival

July 5, 2014:  We arrived in Gig Harbor where we will be staying until August 13th.  We are visiting our son's family.  It will be great to spend time with our grandchildren.  We are at the Gig Harbor RV Resort.

Washington at Last!

June 5, 2014:  We continued our journey up the Oregon coast this morning and crossed the Columbia River into Washington.  There we stopped at a historical site where Lewis and Clark came to the end of their journey to the Pacific Ocean.  They landed just six miles from their destination, unable to continue due to strong storms that made continuing down the river too dangerous to proceed.
