Driving to Columbus, Montana

August 22-23, 2014: On our first night in Columbus we boondocked at Itch-Kep-Pe Park.  This was our first time boondocking. Our site was right on the Yellowstone River.  The next day we moved to Mountain Range RV Park nearby.

One Night in Saint Regis, Montana

August 20, 2014:  We stopped for one night at the Nugget RV Park.  It was a clean park with full hook ups.  We walked into the small town with views of the Yellowstone River.  Huckleberries and sweet cherries were in season.

Goodbye Gig Harbor

August 17, 2014:  We traveled from Gig Harbor to Moses Lake, Washington.  This was a one night stop at Cascade Campground.  When we arrived we discovered our propane had stopped working. That means no hot water!  The next day we went to a Winnebago authorized dealer in Liberty Lake where we stayed for two nights in a motel while they fixed two leaks in our line.

More Gig Harbor Family Time

Our time in Gig Harbor included Saturday soccer with Silas, visit to Kopachuck State Park, walks and music concerts in the harbor, sleep overs, pool fun, lunch at Tides, and Olalla blue grass music festival fun.

Trip to Portland

August 8-12, 2014:  I drove to Portland to pick up Leeah after her conference.  While in Portland we had gluten free halibut and chips, discovered a little history during a walk along the Columbia River, ate cupcakes from New Cascadia gluten free bakery, and bought fruit at the farmer's market.  After returning to Gig Harbor, we spent two relaxing days wandering the harbor and hanging out with the family.  Loved our time with Leeah....Skip did too....thanks for the new toy, Leeah!

Sailing Lesson

August 6, 2014:  Chuck and I signed up for a sailing lesson at the Gig Harbor Boat Shop, a Historic Working Waterfront.  We sailed on a restored 1958 Thunderbird Sailboat named Pirouette.  Eddon Boatyard in Gig Harbor is the birthplace of the Thunderbird Sailboat.

Mt. Rainier National Park

August 3, 2014:  Today was Skipper's 13th birthday.  We went with our son's family to hike at Mt. Rainier.  We entered the park on historic Nisqually Road to Paradise.  Since we had already hiked from Paradise to Panorama Point, Ammon chose a different trail along the cascading river.  The snow melt made the water cool and refreshing.  Although the temperature was in the low 80's, there were fields of snow where the children stopped to play and slide and we took the opportunity to cool off. There were countless wild flowers blooming in the meadow areas.  We saw a few marmots scurrying through the meadows.  Also, we watched a mother black bear and her two cubs foraging in the meadow below us. The mountain reveals the majesty of God's creation!
